Heirloom Preserves

Typed on a 1914 Royal No.10 and set in a scalloped wood frame, “Heirloom Preserves” is a contemporary poem anchoring a vintage collage of ephemera and fragments of the past, including a glimpse of the 1937 Ohio River Flood. Rooted in storytelling traditions baked into domestic labor, the poem becomes a post-confessional layer of considering what families intentionally preserve or simply fold into fading traditions. This piece is part of a larger body of poetic works exploring ancestral secrets shaped by estrangeness, shame, and fear.
